History

Dan & Mike, Two of Tuesday's Children

At 6’9″ and 6’11” we are among the tallest twins in the world. In fact, as kids we were often referred to as the “Twin Towers.” This deep-rooted irony is especially difficult for us because on Tuesday, September 11, 2001, at age 11, we lost our father, Andrew Friedman, in the attack on the World Trade Center. In the days following 9/11 our family took to the streets of New York City to pass out essentials – namely socks – to first responders working on recovery efforts. At the time, handing out socks represented hope, strength and encouragement.

The response in the days, months and years that followed from communities both near and far was truly amazing. While caring for the children of nearly 3,000 victims of 9/11 was truly a “Tall Order,” people went out of their way to show us their love and generosity. In this spirit, we founded TallOrder.

While designing comfortable, quality dress socks for men sizes 9-20 is our mission, charity remains at our core. This is why we have committed to donating ten percent of TallOrder profits to Tuesday’s Children, the non-profit organization that supported our family in the immediate aftermath of 9/11, and continues to help families in communities affected by terrorism and traumatic loss.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and choosing TallOrder. We hope you like our socks!
